Emergency LiftMaster Equipment Repair in Oklahoma City

Dead openers after a storm surge, stripped drive gears, blinking sensor faults that leave a house standing open, and jammed commercial jackshaft operators blocking a loading bay. Open Sesame Garages services the full LiftMaster and Chamberlain platform around the clock, with gear kits, logic boards, sensors and Security+ 2.0 remotes already on the truck.

CALL 24/7 DISPATCH: (405) 538-2363

Independent Oklahoma service company. We are not LiftMaster, and we will tell you when a unit is still under manufacturer warranty rather than charging you for a part the maker owes you.

Before you call: is this actually an emergency?

A dead opener is usually not an emergency, and saying so costs us money we are happy to lose. The springs, not the opener, carry the weight of the door. If the springs are intact, pull the red release cord hanging from the trolley and the door becomes a manual door: you can raise it, get the car out, lower it, and lock it. That turns a midnight call into a morning appointment without the after-hours fee.

It is an emergency when the door will not close and the house is standing open, when the door will not lift by hand because a spring has also failed, when a car you need is trapped and manual release is not working, or when a commercial operator has jammed and a bay is blocked.

LiftMaster faults, decoded — and which ones you can fix yourself

Ordered by how often each one turns up on an after-hours call. Three of the seven are frequently free to resolve without a technician, and it costs you nothing to rule them out before you dial.

Completely dead — no lights, no click, nothing

Usual cause:
Power, not the opener, about half the time. A tripped GFCI, a breaker, or an outlet killed by a storm surge. The other half is a logic board taken out by that same surge.
Check yourself:
Test the outlet with a phone charger or lamp. Reset the GFCI in the garage and check the breaker panel. If another device works in that outlet, the opener is the problem.
Emergency?
Emergency only if you are locked out or a car is trapped and the door will not lift by hand.

Motor runs but the door does not move

Usual cause:
A stripped drive gear, nine times out of ten. The plastic gear that drives the chain or screw has chewed through — often accelerated by a door that was out of balance long before the gear failed.
Check yourself:
Listen. A grinding or whirring with no movement is the gear. Also check whether the trolley is simply disconnected: if the red release cord was pulled, the motor runs and the door stays put.
Emergency?
Emergency if a car is trapped. Otherwise the door still works by hand — reconnect in the morning.

Door reverses before it closes, opener light blinks 10 times

Usual cause:
The safety sensors. Ten blinks on a LiftMaster is the specific code for a photo-eye that is misaligned, obstructed, or wired badly.
Check yourself:
Wipe both lenses at floor level, clear anything crossing the beam, and check both LEDs. Both should glow steady. One dark or blinking means alignment. This is the single most common fault and it is frequently free to fix yourself.
Emergency?
Emergency if the house is standing open overnight and you cannot force it closed with the wall button.

Door reverses immediately after touching the floor

Usual cause:
Close force or travel limits set wrong, or a genuine mechanical bind. Sometimes the down limit is set past the floor, so the opener thinks it hit an obstruction.
Check yourself:
None that is safe to adjust blind. Cranking the force setting up to make it stop reversing defeats the reversal safety that exists to keep the door off a child. Do not do it.
Emergency?
Not an emergency, but do not "fix" it by increasing the force. Book a proper visit.

Opener beeping, or running slow during an outage

Usual cause:
The battery backup. A LiftMaster with battery backup beeps when the battery is low, finished, or when the opener is running on it during a power cut. Battery operation is normal and slower by design.
Check yourself:
A steady beep pattern with the power out is normal operation. Beeping with the power on means the battery needs replacing — typically every 3 to 5 years.
Emergency?
Not an emergency. Batteries are stocked and swapped on a normal visit.

myQ app will not connect, or shows the door offline

Usual cause:
Almost always the Wi-Fi band. myQ needs 2.4 GHz, and a router that combines both bands under one network name hands the opener a 5 GHz connection it cannot use.
Check yourself:
Split the bands on your router, or create a temporary 2.4 GHz-only network for setup. The physical door is completely unaffected by this — it still works from the wall button and remote.
Emergency?
Never an emergency. The door works; only the app does not.

Commercial jackshaft or trolley operator jammed mid-cycle

Usual cause:
A failed brake, a slipped chain, a tripped safety edge, or a door bind that stalled the operator. On a commercial bay this stops the business, not just the door.
Check yourself:
Do not attempt a manual override on a jammed commercial operator with the door partly up. Chain hoist and jackshaft units hold serious load. Secure the bay and keep people clear.
Emergency?
Genuine emergency. A blocked dock or bay is dispatched on the 24/7 line.

Commercial LiftMaster operators: when a bay goes down

A jammed commercial operator is not the same problem as a dead residential opener. A blocked dock stops deliveries, strands fleet vehicles, and in some buildings blocks an exit route. Those calls get dispatched on the same 24/7 line and treated as genuine emergencies.

We service LiftMaster commercial logic operators, wall-mount jackshafts, trolley units, and chain hoists — including failed brakes, slipped chains, tripped safety edges, and loop detector faults. Our commercial trucks carry high-cycle torsion stock and winding equipment, so a door that stalled because of a spring failure rather than an operator failure gets solved on the same visit.

One safety point worth stating plainly: do not attempt a manual override on a jammed commercial operator with the door partway up. Jackshaft and chain hoist units hold serious load, and a partially open commercial door that comes down is a different category of accident. Secure the bay, keep people clear, and call.

Repair or replace: how we decide, out loud

Age is the honest test. Under about ten years, a gear kit, a logic board, or a sensor pair is worth doing and the repair will hold. Past twelve to fifteen years, part availability starts thinning, and more importantly the next failure is usually already queued up behind this one — a board replaced today on a fifteen-year-old unit tends to be followed by a gear next season.

The second test is the door, not the opener. An opener that has been fighting an unbalanced door for years did not fail on its own: it was overloaded. Replacing it without fixing the balance just buys a new opener a short life. That is why every visit starts with the door disconnected and a balance test at waist height, before anything electronic is touched.

We will say which of these you are looking at, and we will say it before you commit to anything. If the answer is that your unit is still under LiftMaster warranty, you will hear that too.

Emergency LiftMaster Repair FAQs

Do you offer emergency LiftMaster opener repair in Oklahoma City at night?

Yes. Open Sesame Garages dispatches 24/7 for LiftMaster and Chamberlain opener failures across the OKC metro, including Edmond, Norman, Moore, Midwest City, Yukon and Mustang. Residential openers and commercial LiftMaster operators are both handled on the same emergency line.

My LiftMaster is completely dead. Is it the opener or the power?

Check the power first, because it is the cause roughly half the time. Test the outlet with a phone charger, reset the GFCI in the garage, and check the breaker. If another device works in that outlet and the opener still shows nothing, the logic board is the likely failure — commonly from a storm surge when the grid came back up.

What does it mean when a LiftMaster opener light blinks 10 times?

Ten blinks is the LiftMaster code for a safety sensor fault: the photo eyes are misaligned, obstructed, or miswired. Clean both lenses, clear the beam path, and confirm both LEDs glow steady. It is the most common fault on the platform and frequently costs nothing to fix yourself.

My LiftMaster motor runs but the door does not move. What is wrong?

Usually a stripped drive gear — the plastic gear that turns the chain or screw has worn through. Before assuming that, check whether the red release cord was pulled, which disconnects the trolley and produces exactly the same symptom. If the trolley is connected and the motor still runs with no movement, it is a gear-and-sprocket job, and we stock those kits on the truck.

Should I repair or replace an old LiftMaster opener?

Age decides it. Under about 10 years, a gear kit, logic board, or sensor pair is worth doing and will hold. Past 12 to 15 years, parts availability drops, the next failure is usually already queued up behind this one, and replacement is the better money. We tell you which side of that line you are on rather than defaulting to the bigger sale.

Can you service a commercial LiftMaster operator after hours?

Yes. Jammed jackshaft and trolley operators, failed brakes, safety edge faults and chain hoist problems on commercial bays are dispatched on the same 24/7 line. A blocked dock or bay is treated as a genuine emergency because it stops the business, not just the door.

Is my door broken if the myQ app stopped working?

No. A myQ connectivity problem is a Wi-Fi problem, not a door problem — the opener still works from the wall button and remote. The usual cause is a router combining 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under one network name, since myQ can only use 2.4 GHz. This is never an emergency call.
