Why won't my LiftMaster myQ opener connect to Wi-Fi?

Work through it in this order

  • 1. Confirm the band. myQ requires 2.4 GHz. If your router broadcasts one name for both bands, either split them into separate names or turn off 5 GHz for the few minutes setup takes, then turn it back on.
  • 2. Test the signal where the opener is. Stand on a ladder next to the motor unit with your phone and check the bars there, not at the kitchen counter. A detached garage or a metal door between the router and the opener kills more myQ setups than any software issue.
  • 3. Re-run pairing properly. Press and release the setup or learn button per your model’s instructions until the Wi-Fi LED blinks, join the temporary myQ network the opener broadcasts, then hand it your home network credentials.
  • 4. Check the password character by character. Special characters, a stray capital, and a network name with an emoji or an apostrophe in it all cause silent failures.
