How to Reset a Garage Door Opener
To reset a garage door opener, hold the "learn" button on the motor unit for about 6-10 seconds until the light flashes, then reprogram each remote. It takes about 5 minutes.

Locate the reset or "learn" button
Find the small button on the motor unit, usually near where the antenna hangs down. On most openers it is labeled "Learn" or "Smart."

Press and hold the button
Press and hold the button for about 6-10 seconds until the indicator light on the unit turns off, then flashes.

Clear old remote codes
Holding the button long enough clears all previously programmed remotes and keypads, which is what "resets" the opener.

Reprogram your remotes
Within 30 seconds of the light flashing, press and release the button on each remote you want to reprogram until the opener light blinks, confirming the code was learned.

Test the door
Test every remote and the wall button to confirm the door opens, closes, and reverses correctly on an obstruction before considering the reset complete.
If the reset doesn't fix it
If the opener still won't respond after a reset, the issue is likely the motor unit, wiring, or a safety sensor rather than the remote programming. That's a job for a technician.
